Removing old Silicon

I am in the process of replacing some old Nicro Solar vents and our windows. Both have been bedded using Silicon - where the Nicro Vents are installed is not smooth so I can't simply scrape off!

I have tried some products in the past with little success.. Currently thinking of trying Marine Formula DeBond Cleaner - has anyone tried it?

Any other suggestions?

thanks,
Geoff.

Re: Removing old Silicon

If you find a way, please share. You'll be a very wealthy man.

The PO used silicon on one of our genoa tracks and it oozed a bit onto the non skid. The only way I've found to remove it is by mechanical means. Basically a dental pick and lots of time.
