Replacing glass in a hard dodger

I have a Bavaria with a hard dodger. One of the side windows broke, and I am now trying to replace with new tempered glass. Problem is, I am unable to remove the hardened mastic from within the aluminum channels. Anyone have any advice for cleaning these out before resetting the new glass?

please note. This is the tempered glass in the hard dodger, not the flexible glazing in the soft dodger.

Why not use a multi-function tool?

You could try CT1 Multi solve spray if it exists in your part of the world. Never met a sealant/mastic that could resist it. Very messy so protect your boat.

There are a few brands of caulking remover that work really well. I began working in the construction industry when I was 6 years old crawling under the subfloors of apartment buildings getting all the trash out, especially any wood matter that might feed termites. It was the family business and now at 67 and many bone surgeries later I only work at home, thank God. But I want to say that in my lifetime the biggest change in construction has been in chemicals. There used to be a hand full of glues and caulkings and now there are hundreds or thousands, all designed for very specific uses. We bought an old house with attached sunrooms covering about 100 feet of the exterior. I began removing large panes of glass that had rock hard caulking or glue and spent hours and hours scraping and then razoring off the residue until I found the remover products. After that I started using them I only had to brush the stuff on and wait awhile and it came off like it was new uncured caulking. Truly amazing to me. Or maybe a heat gun and a small razor sharp chisel.

I just finished a similar project. Mine was tempered glass in teak frame. Die grinder with various abrasives. lots of hand sanding.

What glaze will you use?

Multi tool with a small oscillating scraping blade should take it out with no problem-- best tool investment I ever made next to the right angle dewalt drill was the Fein multi-tool
