Rotary Aire Air Conditioner

I have a Westerbeke 16,000 BTU reverse cycle unit that recently started to act up. The only thing it does when turned on is to cycle thru the fan speeds from 6 down to zero then repeats the process taking about six seconds to complete. I had been using the unit and when I left the boat turned it off at the control panel. When I came back aboard several hours later it had majically turned itself on and was cycling as described above. The control panel was not responding and could only turn unit off at main breaker. Each time unit is switched on and off via the circuit breaker a differant operating command shows up on the panel. The control panel is a very expensive item and I'm trying to make sure it is the problem before replacing. Neither Westerbeke or the local distributor have been any help. Has anyone experienced a similar problem and what was the corrective maintenance. Thanks.

Re: Rotary Aire Air Conditioner

Sounds like the fan button on the display is stuck/sticky. The behavior you are observing is what would happen if you depressed the FAN button. Suggest taking the control pad out, and ensuring that FAN button is not stuck

I have the same problem. Did you ever fix it? Was it the $425 control panel? I wish I could find a used one to at least test my system.

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Sunset Dawn, Seaya, and dgrintz.
Wow - a threefer.

The Westerbeke ROTARYAIRE OWNERS MANUAL has a troubleshooting guide:
https://www.westerbeke.com/technical...259%20rev3.pdf

Wiring Diagram ➥ https://www.westerbeke.com/wiring%20...g_diagrams.pdf

Westerbeke recommends that your climate control system is serviced and/or installed only by an authorized Westerbeke distributor or dealer.
