Sailboat Transom Outboard Reinforcement

Hi All,

I/m thinking of I/B to Outboard (6horse) conversion of 1973 Viking 28. Any engineering/structural/design advice on reinforcing transom? Minimum will be interior marine ply plate for thruhull bolts. Another ask is opinions on placing O/B mount on to transom, but on the far side of transom rather than in middle. Motor mount is one off custom, and when not in use motor will be stored in aft lazarette. I only use the boat for racing so motor is only for getting in and out of dock. That said, my preference is to ensure mount placement somewhat overbuilt so transom "edges" to port/starboard hull joins or anywhere else aren't subject to undue stress. Anyone a hull structural engineer?

If I go ahead I will likely have a good working Vire 6 engine available. Thanks.
