Sailomat 601 User Manual?

Greetings!

I am rebuilding a Sailomat 601 windvane. I've been told that the owner's manual is out of print (since 2004), but have read old posts on the forum about other users looking for it.

A copy of the owner's manual for a Sailomat 601 would be much appreciated.

Re: Sailomat 601 User Manual?

Hi Paul,
Thanks again for the manual!
I have a question for any Sailomat 601 users out there:

The manual says the vane bade is made of plywood. Instead of spending $100. plus for a vane from Sailomat…would anyone mind tracing the shape of their vane for me?? I would much rather make one on my own if possible.

thanks!

Jonny

Re: Sailomat 601 User Manual?

Hey Jonny,

I have 3 different vanes that were on the boat when I bought it . The plywood one and two made out of corrugated plastic, the one I use is 36" x 9 1/2" and the other one is 24" x 9 1/2(for higher winds)...they have Sailomat labels on them so I assume they came from Sailomat.

Chuck

Thanks Chuck!
Are those measurements for the corrugated plastic vanes???
Would it be possible to measure the thickness?
I can buy corrugated plastic on EBAY ….for about $5.

thanks again for the info! The 601 (even in pieces) looks like a very nice piece of engineering. I'm very excited to get her back in business on my boat.

best,

Jonny

Yes, the plastic vanes are 3/8" thick. All you have to do to fit over the rod is cut a 4 1/2" tapered slot about 5/8" at the bottom to 3/16" at the top.

Cheers,
Chuck

Yes…Chuck gave me the measurements for the plastic vanes…I suppose if I could get the measurements for the plywood one as well??…I'd be pretty set …..for a little $10. project from Home Depot.
