These pics show a before and after. I ended up spraying two gallons plus of paint in the pilot house. Did the job twice, changed the color for attempt number 2.
It's a bit hard two say but the paint job is a C+ at best. Lots of overspray, I did put a lot of effort into the job. But it will look great to those not inspecting and it was time to move on

Re: Schucker refit

I bought 12 sheets of 3/4 Baltic birch 12 ply water proof glue plywood last summer. After II replaced the pilot house floor and built the pilot house settees I was down to only 3 full sheets. I got sick of moving them around so that was the impetus to gut all the crappy built in stuff in the main cabin except for the crappy galley so I could begin to replace the rotten flooring.
This is the aft port side of the main cabin where the fiberglass dinette used to live, now it lives at the dumpClick image for larger version

I inspected the bulkheads as I went along some slight ares of damage on the top of some of them, easily repaired. It's bulked at the head was in need of major repair due to water damageClick image for larger version

I cut out the rot, what is left is in good shape. I will repair in place, replacing the rotten wood using epoxy , then facing the entire bulkhead with a 3/4 piece. The whole thing encapsulated in fiberglass. I have done this on a previous boat. Turns out stronger than stock.
Did not get a shot of the 3 red piece but it went adjacent to the forward port side piece. It will take two full sheets to finish the cabin floor plus what I need to build furniture with. I under ordered by half on the plywood is a rough guess.
I did make a video of the work I did for a friend. You can find it on you tube by searching. " Schucker rebuild nov 2016". If you want to see more of this madness

When you are rebuilding a boat, it's the little things that add up. In order to keep insects and small rodents out we installed SS screens on the 4 engine air intakes

The box is insulated with the poly ISO foam you get at Home Depot or lowes. 4 inches on the sides and 6 on the bottom. Then fiberglassed with 7208 using poly resin. Then several coats of gel coat. Th kid was a bit harder to build but came out ok. Bondo can fix a lot!. I ordered the gaskets from a custom cooler place

Fired up the COOL BLUE compressor and the cold plate got insanely cold, I forget -27 degrees? Left it running for a few days and checked around with infra red thermometer around and on top of the box, especially around the lid. Pretty happy with the results.
