Sealing before Kiwi Grip

Hello all. My non skid is pretty well shot, I plan on putting down Kiwi Grip over the old diamond patterned non-skid. I understand that Kiwi Grip isn't useful as a barrier, and I have some hairline cracking I would like to seal before putting on the Kiwi Grip. I have a very small section to do, would something like Quicksilver Primer work as a protective base coat? It's advertised as sealing out moisture and usable on metal or plastic, I would be applying this over the sanded nonskid gelcoat.

Any better product for this?

Not your question, but if you've never used kiwigrip it's great stuff! If you use a 1/4 regular nap roller the texture is less aggressive. I've used it and have had it on my boat for 4yrs now..if it gets dirty or shitty.. wash with soap and water add reapply..cheap and easy.
