Shower sump pump replacement

I have a 1989 Morgan/Catalina 44 CC. My sump pump for the aft head shower/tub has quit and needs to be replaced. Does anyone know how to get to it?
It appears to be under the head floor or the tub its self. Cannot get to it from the engine room because it is outboard of the engine without any room to access to the than removing the tub (tried that last week but too much 5200).
Trying to avoid getting soap scum in the bilge.

Have you looked behind the galley cabinets?

I'm betting under the tub/shower. It's the logical place.

Where is the discharge? It should be near the sump and pump.

Re: Shower sump pump replacement

Ran a fair amount of water into the tub but it all appeared to end up in the sump under the engine and then had to be pumped into the bilge with my dingy hand pump. No overboard discharge at all till I pumped it out of the bilge. As to where it is SUSPOSE to discharge I haven't a clue.
This is beginning to look like a "good" winter project.

Yeah, that sump should have a discharge, and to avoid a siphon it should be either above the waterline or have a sophon break loop in it. So, pull it out for the winter and find that sucker.

I'm still betting that you can get to it from behind the galley cabinets.

Nothing like designing a boat that cannot be serviced....

Apocryphal story about Ferdinand Porsche: As a prisoner of war in France he designed the Renault "beetle" so that it could not be serviced. The part about the Renault was true - no way could you get a wrench on that thing - and Porsche designed it.

Loved the story about Mr. Porsche, built a great line of cars too!

The area aft of the refrigerator/freezer, on the starboard side is a space about a foot wide and contains the discharge hoses for the a/c units, refrigerator/freezer and the bilge. Have not found one aft of that point.

Re: Shower sump pump replacement

I drove one, but was too young to have to maintain it. Rumor had it that you had to take the engine out to replace the spark plugs.

Re: Shower sump pump replacement

Does anyone have a email connect or address for Catalina/Morgan where one might get some information?
