Small paint ding repairs

I'm often having to repair interior and exterior dings and scratches in my paintwork. Interior paint is a custom Glasurit, sprayed. Exterior is Alexseal, also sprayed. For the interior, I usually repair with a Fourney white paint marker.
It does a good job, considering how fast and easy it is. But it doesn't leave a flush surface, so the repair is still visible and tactile.

Is there a better method?
- fill with thickened epoxy, then sand & paint?
- sand the edges 3:1 or 5:1, then paint?
- use a Preval sprayer, instead of a paint marker?
- use a tiny airbrush, instead of a paint marker?

What's your best practice, and how well does it work?

Re: Small paint ding repairs

The easiest is likely to be sanding a bevel and then painting. The most important point is that paint will not fill a ding - the edges will still be there unless you sand them down before painting.
