Just watched the video. They really didn't test the sonic system. They did a brief mention, when they compared the growth on the keel (which does not benefit from the system) and the hull. The keel had barnacles and the hull did not...so a favorable comment.

KRYG,I feel may have made a valid point about them working with an aluminum hull. I had always heard they didn't work but chances are most of that input came from glass or wooden hull owners. If one thinks about it, it makes sense.

Re: Sonic Anti-fouling - Learning Mode

Hi Cadence,

Thanks for your comments - My understanding after some research, store bought Ultrasonic units of different brands they can't live up to their claims. It seems their frequency are not effective - As you know in my earlier post I had a custom build unit in NZ by an electronic engineer. If you read the installation manual, he provides a there is a specific way to install them on Glass boats. I have no idea if it works or not?

However, in my case this year I saved slipping fees and antifouling cost which more than paid for the Ultrasonic unit which cost NZ $700 for my boat. The designer on his website confirms Aluminium and steel hulls are the best conductor for Ultrasonic transmission.
