Re: Source for old Force 10 Oven burner cap

Nope not resolved. No one had them in stock.

Ended up having a local do a "repair" which cost us about $250 US and when we got the stove back we still had the same burner caps. 😡

So I'll email you and see what you have.

Re: Source for old Force 10 Oven burner cap

Hello all...I thought this was an old resolved thread? Especially when I tried to post additional information and the Moderator shut me down, without My understanding why.

Okay...So I will try again one more time. The facts of the matter are that the burner caps were NOT a force 10 proprietary part. The foundry in France was mass-producing them for propane domestic cooking stoves used in the country of India.

Thus it was much easier and cost effective for Force 10 to buy and utilize a mass-produced commercially available part than to design and produce their own.

Given that India was place of the Raj and the beginning of the British empire lasting for 200 years. They are familiar with British engineering and manufacturing processes. and in fact are very good at it. So what I surmised is that there is a high likelihood that some domestic production was started which could have undercut the cost of production in France. Causing stove cap production there to cease long before the French company closure circa 2002.

My attempted appeal was that members of 'cruisers Forum'; living in or Sailing to India investigate who is supplying their domestic market? I so much doubt that those persons using these stoves in India are likely to afford a new stove all the time they can buy replacement parts. Given the population of that country this market could be huge,

Re: Source for old Force 10 Oven burner cap

I am sure we could find replacement burnercaps in India. However that would be in some small foundary in a back alley... not a business that ships overseas.

So for now we are living with what is and waiting to sail to another country where we can buy a new stove. (Shipping Marine stoves to Israel is a whole other problem. 🤦*♀️)

So thanks for the idea.

Re: Source for old Force 10 Oven burner cap

Robyn...If these are being made In India? as I surmise. I very much doubt such a company would be a small concern in a back ally. The sophistication of equipment needed to do it all 'in house' would be considerable. Back in the day when we were talking about this; I would have to have dealt with four workshops to pull it off.

General question to everyone***Do We even have any members in India?
I have only watched documentaries in TV. and do not recall seeing sailing yachts.
