Spade rudder on an islander 37 motor sailer

Hi all
I got a leaky rudder shaft on this 37 islander ms. Unfortunately the type of seal n packing arrangements are not common with a packing nut to tighten and that I'm told I have to dry dock this boat to fix it. Need some advice on this if anyone has had similar issues with this type of vessel. Great full for any info. Sincerely Fred. Ps will try to add photos shortly
