St 4000 auto pilot parts

I tried to find the old thread but could not. I think there is a guy in Colorado that can get belts for the old auto pilots. Does anyone have his email. I actually bought two from him but can not find the information. Anyone else will be good also. I am looking for 2 belts and a backup gear that it runs on from the motor. Thanks s/v Aloisius Dave

Good old ebay !!
I bought one years ago and it is working just fine.
At first, it's a little grabby because it needs to straighten out the slight fold when shipped.

FWIW, these are not special belts made just for Autohelm drives. They are standard industrial items, and should be available from any good industrial supply house. It has been years, but I was able to buy belts for an Autohelm 3000 from such places. Just take the old one in for identification... it will be a lot cheaper than what A/H charged, too!

I wish this was true. I tried that route.

eBay had plenty. About $20, which I'm sure had plenty of profit in it.

Don't know why you had a problem? I got belts fron an industrial machine supplier with exactly the same part numbers as the Raymarine ones because that's where they by the. Then they stamp it raymarine and double the price, it then goes to a chandlers who double the price again!

I have just replaced my ST4000 with a below deck hydraulic job so have the wheel fittings spare plus 4 or 5 new belts if you would be interested but won't be back to the boat till March. (Some of us have to work&#128557

I was thinking maybe $50 which is what the belts cost. Even better would be a swap, particularly looking for stantion bases. Where are you based?

Re: St 4000 auto pilot parts

My Smartpilot X-5 wheel pilot takes 414 Synchroflex AT5/875 belts.
That relates to the teeth being 5mm apart, the belt diameter being 875 mm and the drive will accept 13mm wide belts. They should be available from an industrial supplier ( Pies Australia being one ) at around AU$30 each.
I think the X5 replaces your earlier ST 4000 model?
Hope it helps.
Cheers

Re: St 4000 auto pilot parts

Thank you, Frugal.
I have just paid A$95 for the original RayMarine belt in Cape Town, SA.
Will look for another spare, not original this time!
Cheers

Re: St 4000 auto pilot parts

Roland, March might be fine. I will let you know. I'm in St Martin heading back to Grenada. If I am unable to locate belts by then, I will contact you. Dave
