Stanchion mount relocation

The current stanchion mounts on our 1977 Pearson 30 only have two of the four mounting screws coming into the cabin with a backing plate. I don't know what the outboard mounting screws go in to. I am considering moving the mounts in 2" so that all 4 screws will come into the cabin with a backing plate. I plan to fill the outboard screw holes with epoxy.

Are there any problems with this plan that I am not seeing?

Thanks!

Make sure you check the other side of the bulkhead in that area. On my P 34-II ,two bolts are fore of the aft bulkhead behind the nav station and two are aft of the bulkhead in the head. It's unlikely the bolts are buried. Check it out. Good luck and good sailing.
