Stantion Repair

I have damaged two of my stantions on my Hunter 28.5. I remember reading somewhere about a couple of companies that can remanufacture older outdated stantions if you send them your damaged ones. I can't find them again for the life of me. Does anyone out there know the companies I am referring to and their web sites?

-Thanks!

Re: Stantion Repair

stanchion for recent Hunters came from Southcoast Marine at 727-573-4821 or you can contact hunterowners.com at 877-932-7245.

No affiliation with either just passing imformation.........

These standard ones may work also.

Re: Stanchion Repair

Thanks guys, the Hunter owners web site is good but they do not have very many parts for the 28.5 it was only made in '85-'87 and the definitely don't have the stanchions. The companies I remember seeing were custom fabricators.

Re: Stantion Repair

White Water Marine in Port Huron Michigan is the custom fabricator of many new and out of date SS parts. Check out their website.

Mike and Tom and the crew are VERY good and very busy. Best to send a sample especially for production boats since parts used were not always interchangable.

Good luck

Re: Stantion Repair

Garhauer can probably make you some. Really nice stuff and reasonably priced.

Re: Stantion Repair

Look under "marine railmakers", maybe you can find a company who will duplicate yours... or even rebuild them.

Re: Stantion Repair

Either Garhauer Marine or Bosun Supply make nice custom stantions at pretty reasonable prices. Unless you can find a shop that specializes in the Hunter 28.5 they are probably your best bet.

We could certainly make them for you out of titanium, though the price would certainly be higher. Figure a grade 5 ( marine grade) stantion would start at $75 and go up from there depending on options and size.

Garhauer, that is the name I was looking for, thank you. On a good note I was able to work with a local welder and repair the ones I had so we are all good for now. I'm now replacing all of the sanitation hoses, replacing all of the seacocks, doing a full service on the Yanmar, replacing the cutlass bearing and having a sailmaker go over the sails. Hopefully she will be like a new boat.
