Synthetic standing rigging terminals and toggles

This one has me puzzled.

I’m putting together the final shopping list for the new synthetic standing rigging and I’ve decided on the metallic terminals from Colligo Marine for my connections to the turnbuckles. (All the other terminals will be from their synthetic range, but I preferred the metallic fittings down at deck level where the weight is not an issue and the terminals are more likely to be struck in a docking mishap or collision.)

So as I went to figure out the turnbuckles I’d use I realised that Colligo seem to prefer toggles on both ends of their turnbuckles. (See photos from their web site below.). I find this odd. Surely a fork would be better for the top attachment? I can’t picture movement in this connection that would require the extra articulation.

Is this double toggle thing something recommended for synthetic rigging in general?

Re: Synthetic standing rigging terminals and toggles

A quick follow up. Ended up emailing Colligo who responded very promptly to advise that “forks are fine. You don’t really need toggles.” Good to know because the toggles sure make things bulkier.

Still kinda curious as to why most of their example rigs use toggles.
