Teak and Holly Sole ?

I am embarassed to even ask this but here goes... Our Sailboat is a 40 year old Ketch with what appears to be solid wood (teak) flooring through out the cabin, it is not a laminet. There are grooves (1/8" maybe 3/16") cut to make it appear to be 2" wide planks. Where would the holly be? I have been boating for 40 years and have always used the phrase Teak & Holly and did not really no what it was. I am now preparing to refinish the sole and this whole holly thing has come up.. I just assumed (I know, I know) I had teak and holly, maybe I dont??? Please dont laugh, just a nice gentle answer. Thanks.

Holly is a very light cream/white wood. Usually it is about 1/2" strips between 2" teak "planks". We have a teak/holly sole in our Bristol but it is 3/4" marine plywood. We varnish it with hi-gloss. Look at the sides of your drop-boards in the sole to make certain that it is not teak plywood.

My sole is similar to yours....we have teak soles.... no holly.
The teak is probably about 3/8in thick and glued to a plywood underlayment.

AHHHH, I see said the blind man... So I have only teak, I take it the Holly is the very light colored wood, almost like caulk in between each plank. I appreciate the info, thanks for not laughing.
