Throttle Shifter Splines...

Just wondering if there is any solution to wearing throtte tines where they meet the tines of the shifter arm (see pics, hard to explain) as the alternative is a whole new shifter. Thanks in advance....

Re: Throttle Shifter Splines...

Several things come to mind.
1. Drill and pin the existing unit to take the load off the existing splines.
2. Check the cable and replace as needed, as a bad cable will increase the load and the wear on the splines.
3. Keep the securing screw tight tp minimize play at the splines.
4. Locktite the screw and splines.

Also can drill or cut a 'key way' with a small file and hacksaw in the same direction as the splines and insert a roll pin, cotter pin or small diameter bolt or S.S. wire similar to what holds your steering wheel from turning on the spindle. (did that to one of my lavatory handles and works well and can remove handle later if necessary) . Just make sure the handle is at the right position.
