Time to reapply teak oil

A bit over a year ago I refinished my anchor platform with multiple coats of teak oil. It’s now time for another coat, but there is a grey band across the middle. Did I do something wrong when I did the finish last year, and what do I need to do now before re-oiling. Thanks!

Re: Time to reapply teak oil

Are you sure you used teak oil? A year is a really long time to go between coats. I would expect it all to look like that unfinished bit after 2 months.

So, to answer your question, I would start by finding out exactly what went on there a year ago. That way you can ensure that whatever you do now is compatible with it. Maybe there was an existing sealer or something, and you oiled on top of that. The oil being long gone, and the sealer still remaining?
