Toggles

Hi All,

I am rigging a 55ft ferro for the first time. She sat for 40 years waiting for her mast and now's the time. Sloop rig , deck step,55 ft stick. Double spreddars double fore and back stays so 12 turnbuckles.

Do all turnbuckles need toggles? Top and bottom ? What about at the mast tangs ?

I have Riggers Apprentice but still confused, any help would be much appreciated.

A simple fork-ended rigging screw (no toggle) may only be used if the chainplate (& tang) is angled correctly, and the rigging screw is able to align with the stay/shroud (& tang).
If not, a toggle must be inserted or a rigging screw with a toggled fork used to align chainplate & stay/shroud (NO load angle at either terminating end).
