Underwater Epoxies

Yes, any marine epoxy can withstand immersion. I mean products that are specifically intended for application underwater or in damp locations.

I've always been a big believer in surface prep. In many applications the bond needs to be as strong as possible. But sometimes dry just isn't going to happen. A few days ago I had to install a sump float. Drilling was not an option and bonding a mounting block was not an option. I dried and cleaned best I could (pretty darn clean and sanded) and used some JB WaterWeld. Seems pretty good. I've also used it to cork up small hull leaks until a proper repair was possible. So far, I've been impressed, in part because my expectations were low. I knew the underwater epoxies were not as strong. But to me, anything that can bond well enough to stop water seems like a miracle.

The other thing that amazes me is that wetting your fingers to prevent the epoxy sticking works and is harmless! How can wetting you finger/glove prevent sticking, and yet it still bonds to the surface (time and pressure make a difference, obviously)? Counter intuitive.

Experiences? Other products?

In the hull cleaning biz, it is frequently used to patch leaky hulls or fill damaged areas on appendages.
