Resist the urge to try to correct any imperfections once the product has started to set up. You can always go back and fix them by applying a very thin coat once it is dry.
I concur. Two thin coats worked better than one heavy coat. Just like painting with anything else. I've had countless people ask me what I used on my decks, over three boats, so "cheap" is definitely an opinion. I've even used a disposable chip brush to repair some spots where I spilled varnish by just dabbing it on, and I guarantee you couldn't find the repairs. Like a lot of things, it's all in the application, and I confess, I'm very detail oriented...BTW, I have found textured gel coat to be incredibly slippery when wet, so much so that on the first two boats I owned, I applied Kiwigrip over it

I bought 3 gallons last year at Sherwin Williams in southern Calif. I think they cost around $79.00 per gal. Also they custom mix the colors while you wait.

$79.00 is a fantastic price. $150.00 per gallon at Jamestown.

Re: Urethane Bed Liner As An Alternative To Topside Paint?

Viewed a boat sprayed with bed liner, in beige if that matters. Was peeling off in dinner plate sized patches. Obviously shoddy/no prep done, but still not a solution I'd try. Owner had sprayed the inside as well. Peeling there too. The boat was a project and hadn't made it back into the water by the time I saw it. Wonder how the bed liner survived once afloat....

That's sounds great. There's one right around the corner!

Re: Urethane Bed Liner As An Alternative To Topside Paint?

Re painting your decks to get a good grip; I painted mine with epoxy and then sprinkled sand all over the wet epoxy, let it dry, and then painted with outdoor floor paint.

The epoxy is hard as nails and is retaining the sand very well. And the topcoat is durable and comes in lots of different colors.

As another poster has said, white doesn't work well (it gets and stays dirty). I painted my decks light grey and it works very well.
