vertical vent for galley stove

Does anyone know of a splash proof vertical vent? Like a dorade but vertical? I'm going to be using it for a stove exhaust with a forced air fan. I could probably fabricate one but I'm not trying to re-invent the wheel, got enough on the refit list as it is. Thanks!

Might be good to check at an RV supply place.

This is the head fan vent for my boat. I don't know who made it, or where you would buy one, but that's what it looks like. It's a mushroom cap on top of the vent pipe that's raised slightly off the deck to allow air flow. The stainless cap protects it.

You might also check out chimney vent caps. This one is for the small wood stove on my boat. I have never had any water come in, even with heavy spray, although I must admit I have my worries about it if I ever experience a boarding wave. Perhaps no more worry than a dorade though. The flat bar across the top is to prevent lines from snagging underneath and ripping it off the chimney pipe. Ask me how I know...

If you can't find one you might also be able to fabricate something like a weatherhead out of pvc or abs fittings, similar to this cable gland pipe. I have done this for the cables from my mast where they enter the deck. I can't find a picture of it in action although you can kind of see it slightly aft and inboard of the head vent in the first pic. I never did paint the black abs because, well, I'm lazy but Krylon spray paint is the go to for plastic if you want to make it pretty.

Try searching Charlie Noble on Google. Shows a variety of things that seem to work for this purpose.

Re: vertical vent for galley stove

I'm very specifically looking for a vertically mounted not horizontal type vent.

Re: vertical vent for galley stove

We obtained a solar-powered vent fan, much like that shown above. The fan did not work, but I usedthe cap. installed a 4"dia pvc pipe bewtween it and the ceiling over the stove, and modified a small pie fan to fit inside the pipe. I mounted a toggle sw next to it.....and we have a powered stove vent! It's been working great, now, for about 10 years.

Re: vertical vent for galley stove

vertical placement... not on the TOP of a deck, on the SIDE of the cabin walls. There are literally dozens of top mounted vents that would work, that's why I'm not asking about that. Sorry to be curt, but either no one read the actual question or they didn't have the answer so they provide *something* anyway. AIA

Vertical vents vent vertically. Horizontal vents vent horizontally. So you are looking for a horizontal vent.

Read the question. Could you maybe phrase the question better, post a pic or make a sketch?
