Correct a wrap will not last 15 years like a paint job or gel coat taken care of but for a good 7 plus years it taken care of will look awesome.

Which will help but not eliminate the issue. I know a number of wrapped boats, and have seriously considered stripping the gel coat off of my A-Cat to wrap it for weight reduction, but just haven't pulled the trigger yet. But some of the new A-Cats are coming from the factory with wraps now. Not quite as light as paint, but easier to repair, and obviously the cosmetic advantages are fun.

True but if u hit something hard enough to cause damage to the 16mm clear bra u will also be repairs gel coat. But its one of two evils.

Can you say more about that, getting wrap buggered by slings, docks etc has been the main reason I haven't perused this, even for accents.

e.g. This vinyl being buggered: https://youtu.be/P1iMIT5IbgQ?t=5m48s

Where on the west coast are you?

This isn't the only example I know of where slings tore the wrap. Leeboards spread over the area can help. But the upside is unlike paint replacing the torn vinyl is pretty DIY. Just cut out the bad section with a razor knife and stick down a patch.

That was spray painted and not a wrap.

Re: Vinyl wrapping my sailboat my planning to installation.

So it looks like you can wrap fairly complex shapes with cutouts etc. It then begs the question of whether you can wrap a deck, the whole thing, and at what cost. Painting a deck with a good spray job is hugely time consuming and expensive. If it could possibly be wrapped, at 50% of the cost or less then if it lasts half as long it's still competitive.

How durable is it to the sort of abrasion/traffic that a deck gets?

I will be wrapping the upper part of the cabin on my ericson. I have no decided on the rest. I want non slip areas that are factory to be present still so a good possibility i will be painting or doing sea decking for some areas of the deck on my boat.

I'm sure we have something on our site about painting the boat too, but this popped-up first.

I would be very interested in seeing it being painted. They told me the film was designed and installed in Florida.
