Volvo Penta D2-40B EVC 2007 Installing new tachometer

Hi,

I'm looking for some help. I've installed a new tachometer with the help of a friend, the old one had a cracked lens and I was unable to read the LCD readout, which would display engine hours and engine faults would display in the LCD readout following an audible alert alarm.

The new tachometer has been installed exactly the same as the old one. Once the EVC start button is pushed VOLVO PENTA is displayed followed by the following message "incorrect database please do an update"

Is there a configuration sequence I should do so the MDI box recognises the new tachometer???

Any help would be much appreciated. I'm hoping DougR may read this and pop along, but if anybody else out there knows what I should do??? I would be really grateful. Thank you.
