Accept living with imperfect but unimportant conditions. If you can't stand the sight, why not hang a framed picture?

Sanding down to bare wood is not the answer. I've tried it. It appears that, over the years, the wood, itself, has been bleached by the sun's UV rays. Except, that is, where the wood was covered.

If you want to not put them back, which I think is the easiest solution, glad someone mentioned that before now, I'd be tempted to cover it with a tidy framed mirror. Having a mirror there will bounce light around below, and can also reflect interesting goings on from outside. Sometimes it's just handy to have a mirror that isn't in the head.

Is it a solid hardwood or a veneer? If it is veneer I wonder if you can adhere a new layer of veneer on tip of it. I'm not a wood worker but someone on the forum might know if that's possible.

Not on top, you'd need to remove the existing veneer, and apply new. Then it would look even worse. The new wood wouldn't be sun bleached either.

You think you have problems??

Yours are in an out of the way place!

I just took down 7 photos and momentos from the saloon bulkhead and now the boat looks like a patchwork quilt!

I am now looking for a piece of art shaped between a rhomboid and trepezium

I was thinking of throwing my girlfriend against the wall and she if she'd stick.
