From considerable experience I can assure you that is not the case, both Eberspacher (or Espar as they are called in NA) and Webasto are on a par for reliability. The main issue is that people think they are fit and forget, the HL32 is quite an old unit and long out of production so it has done well to get this far. The most reliable of all the marine forced air heaters is the Wallas, designed and built in Finland specifically for marine aplications.
