Main switch... at main switchboard...simples...
Those little units are great and super cheap too! I paid less than $15 delivered for mine!

For refrigeration remote controls, I chose to put in a protected place with no other practical purpose and where no one could accidentally flip a switch.

Two units for two Ozefridge compressors they are easily seen from the dinning and easily used to monitor compresor temps, or catch any fault flashesClick image for larger version

I’ll have just one of those, protected place is a good point.

How protected does it have to be with only you aboard?

Re: Where to put the fridge control panel?

Depends I guess...

I think that Inkbird unit isn't designed for marine use....

'Dual Stage DV 12V Digital Temperature .... Thermostat Heating ......Greenhouse'

suggests to me that it is aimed at the Californian producers of ... how would you say?... 'cash crops'...

maybe that is why Matt bought two.....

After some more playing around ....

The RPM of the compressor motor is controllable by adding resistance to the thermostat circuit so a little current is drawn >

And actual current using the little plug in board I have >

Nice display there. Can you tell me the name of the software package you are using?

Sounds a bit complex but once the data gets to the Pi everything is easy to set up.
So an INA219 current sensor reads the current and voltage which an ESP32 then converts to signalK data and sends to a raspberry pi over wifi(udp) .
SignalK then sends the data to a database - influxdb. Then finally another program - chronograf makes it easy to view the various stuff on the database and make pretty graphs Handy a everything is a webpage so doesn't really matter what you have nearby to view, pretty much anything with wifi and a screen will do.

Thank you. I look forward to playing around with some of this stuff.

SignalK seems to come up again and again, but that’s the first time I’ve heard of chronograf.

Re: Where to put the fridge control panel?

Been thinking about replacing the mechanical thermostat in the Frigoboat fridge with a digital thermostat.
The Inkbird controller is as cheap as chips so think it is worth a punt.

I'm not sure how to wire up the Inkbird controller, it has a heating relay and a cooling relay. At a guess should terminals 7 and 8 be connected to terminals C and T on the Danfoss controller?

Re: Where to put the fridge control panel?

You are correct. All you are doing is substituting the digital contact for the mechanical one that is normally used with it.
In fact I just did the same thing on an install on a 80ft racing sloop here in socal, we have used elliwell displays for 16 plus years, but they are all nearly the same.
We like to separate the power feed from the system, so overnight if you shut down, you can still see the temps
