No reason for that a.s hole to do what he did other than he thought it would be fun to f....k with the sail boat at anchor. The sports fisher had all sorts of room but decided to make that close pass on purpose. This was almost 50 years ago...

The idea that getting a caravan would solve the problem is daft. There are plenty of a.s holes in caravans too. One is more likely to run into a.s holes, whether they are in caravans or not, while one is in a caravan than in a boat.

I would definitely agree with this. That’s one of the things I am looking forward to getting back on the boat and off a caravan for a bit.

Less exposure to a holes. Still some, but less.

In the scenario in the OP, the wake would be annoying, but the primary concern would be the collision danger, especially for dinghies and swimmers. And the risk of one of those guys running over an anchor rode and causing a big mess.

The issue of fast small powerboats trashing through anchorages is nothing new. I was anchored in “ tranquility bay” nearby recently , nothing “ tranquil “ about it. Certain big RIB owners seem to take peculiar delight in racing through the anchorage even if not by the direct route. This was at midnight to boot.

In the med when on the town quay all sorts of high powered boats come and go. Little acknowledgment of thd presence of the yachts is made.

Just part of the scenery it seems.

Because it's nerve-racking and can easily avoided if noone needs to act like a jerk?

When the weather is rough for 24h on the hook, you deal with it, after that time all is good. It's nature.

If no-one acted like a jerk diesel wouldn’t be €2.40 a litre. Sadly ……… jerks abound
