You're absolutely right. You don't want to go to the Bahamas. There's only beautiful white beaches, pristine waters, the colors, fellow cruisers, good fishing, isolation, or partying ....you choose....NAH DON'T GO THERE

Every country we have visited has import and duty on items shipped into the country. Those that used to allow parts in duty free for repairs are pretty much doing away with that. So if that determines whether you visit another country you might not get out of the US.
