Clearance to Bahamas

Hi,

How I get out of Florida to the Bahamas with American flag sailboat, but I and my family are Brazilian? We returned to Florida in the same vessel. We live in Brazil and we have a tourist visa (6 months). We arrived and let's go by plane.
I thank you for the attention.

Best Regards,
Luiz

Good question.

I am not a US citizen and travel out of the US on a boat frequenly. I "ask" to be cleared out because I want to leave a record of my date of leaving the US. That saves complications when coming back!

In the old times I could hand over the I-94s and write in them the date of leaving and the boat name. Now the record is electronic and they get the info from carriers, hence I need to ask for clearance.

I have the same question, I'm here on a work visa and recording the departure is critical if I were to leave my job and go sailing for a period of time.
How is the process for Americans when "checking out"? Do you visit a customs office and file a sailing plan?
