Fumigation Service for Galapagos

Anyone else remember an article, maybe in Cruising World a decade or so ago, by one of the authors who was in the Galapagos about the "Postmaster" there? Apparently he was taking the stamps off outbound post cards, throwing the post cards out, and reselling the stamps to make a little more income off the books.

Checked into Galapagos 18 months ago without fake cert that most boats had. They did the fumigation there for me 100usd no problem.

Yes, pay attention on your next international flight, usually just before the landing check, the Steward / Stewardess walks through and discreetly sprays the cabin.
Don’t believe me, just watch, they are discrete, my Brother pointed it out, I didn’t believe him until I too saw it.
Check the list, the Galapagos are on it.

You can take a cab to the gas station and buy whatever you want. Cabbie even will fill the cans for you.

Just a quick follow up on our experience now that we are here in the Galapagos.
We got "fumigated" in La Paz and were able to specify what the certificate needed to say. To be accepted (as of Jan 2018) in the galapagos it must:
Have an issue date of 2 days from your departure date listed on the zarpe
State that Thermonebulization was used as the method of fumigation
Have a valid period that lasts longer than the time it takes you to get there plus hang out in the galapagos.

We made the mistake of assuming that a month was long enough for the valid period but that only covered a week of our time here (it took us 3 weeks to sail here). We almost had to have somebody do it here but "Don Bolo" managed to smooth things out for us.

While Im at it. Watch out for the following:
You must have a sign in spanish that says "Dont throw garbage overboard" in the cockpit.
You must have an oil/fuel spill plan and kit. A package of oil diapers will suffice.
You must dive the hull and make it perfect either as soon as you arrive or somewhere offshore. They are very sticky about this so make it perfect.
Make sure the garbage can has only clean, washed plastic in it. They will check this.
Upon exit from each port you will be asked if you received fuel. We said no and had no issues.
Jump through these hoops and you will have a wonderful time here. It really has been amazing.
