Insurance for Mexico

Hello
I am (now) desperately trying to find insurance for my 32 foot sailboat in Mexico. My present co, Premier, has just informed me they wont cover it in Mexico after paying them for 3 years, thanks guys! I have the Mexican liability insurance set up already, but need something to cover the hauling, sailing, docking etc for the whole trip. I am in Canada, but I don't care where I have to deal as long as it just gets done. Friggin painful!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Insurance for Mexico

you need to have an insurance company with feet in mexico.
i use mariners group. online and telephone in usa ...easily done.
there are also mexican insurance companies near port capt in ensenada which was acceptable when i arrived, but that was 3 years or so ago..whenever 2011 was...last regime.
mariners is so easily available my momma got me some last year.
and yes it could well be advisable to use it from usa on down for ease in availability and avoidance of unknowns.
you only need liability, and the amount is up to you.

Re: Insurance for Mexico

Thanks Zee, I have lined up the liability ins for Mexico, Its my butt I need to cover now. When we were in PV last month we met a guy that had his Islander run over by a cabin cruiser while he was on a ball in La Cruz, and he was back in the States for a week. Nice surprise to come back to find your boat with the bow sprit and forestay hangin off her side's.
He said he emailed some pictures to his ins carrier and they are fully covering the damage.
That's service, but I don't recall who he said he was covered with.
Anyway, thanks for that, Ill check them out right away.
By the way, love your moniker!
Fair winds!

Re: Insurance for Mexico

health insurance in mexico is available for residente permanente, but i am not certain if holders of residente temporal visas are eligible for it
there are insurance policies for ...oops there were, before the great change....policies for travelling and travellers.... i dont know what is available now..i have medicare and i know how to holler for emergency health insurance on the states, as i used to have to call social services in usa for that on a regular basis to have folks able to afford their stays.... and i more than qualify fro the supplemental state stuff in every state in usa.
ask your health insurance company what to do, as they seem to be the rulers of this particular kingdom.
