Re: Left hanging by Pantaenius

In 18 years in the marine insurance industry, I have never heard of Preuss, you would think their name would have come up before? They are not rated or even listed by AM Best. Do you know who the actual underwriter is? Best to find out and check their ratings in AM Best, Fitch & S&P. Preuss may just be an agency, since their site doesn't list any underwriters. Find out what entity actually underwrites the policy.

Re: Left hanging by Pantaenius

I dont know their underwriters. I couldn’t get the quote from them because of our current situation.

Btw I have filled in the quotation request form on the website you provided. Hopefully we’ll receive a good quote and coverage. Thanks for that!

They are an agency, and they have been around already for a pretty long time...
In Germany, they are renown.

Hi. You don't mention details regarding a less than good experience with Preuss. I'd be interested to know a bit more. Possibly via PM if you font want to go into details out in the open. Appreciate it.

In the meantime I got some more info from Preuss. They also say that after Brexit the underwriters instructed not to insure UK flagged boats for EU residents. I am currently requesting Hayes and Parsons in the UK to see if they can insure us.
Alternatively, I am considering reflagging to Polish. Not ideal, but at least it gets us insured again.
Am currently boatless, sold my boat during COVID and am dithering over a new one..
If I do buy one I'll likely go the Polish flag route for the insurance.
