Mexican consulate in San Diego doesn't do tip?!

Trying to get a tip for our boat after getting screwed by the online website. The consulate told us they don't do it, even though every other website says they do. Any advise?

We did it online and dhl never attempted delivery so the Mexicans took it back and said sorry try again. Now we t in San Diego at a marina with no local address.

Baja HaHa Guide to boating in Mexico

Baja Ha-Ha Cruisers Rally: Sailing from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas

That guide says the Mexican Consulate in LA (120 miles from border), San Bernardino (150 miles from border), and Sacramento (650 miles from border) will issue the TIP. The San Diego consulate which is only 15-miles from the border, and is at a US customs port is not allowed to issue the TIP.

Get your other documents online then sail 60 NM down to Ensenada and get the TIP there.

Pay MailCall on Shelter Island $20 for a short term mail box and have the TIP delivered there.

I would go to Ensenada and have the very competent authorities there issue the TIP.

Re: Mexican consulate in San Diego doesn't do tip?!

I did the TIP online. After processing my payment, the online site failed to return. I emailed itvnet@banjercity.com.mx and we sorted through the process. I also submitted a detailed list of equipment w/serial numbers. Aside from the website failure, the only problem is I had to email them several times the USCG documentation and passports. Took about 5 email exchanges, each requiring the documentation, and the TIP arrived a couple days later.

Also, once you receive the TIP document, you need to sign the back indicating that you plan on returning. This needs to be scanned and emailed back to them too.

You are probably out of time for the Baja Haha, thought they might be able to send the TIP to Ensenada or Cabo.

Yes, the online process is less then perfect, but it does work and the folks handling the paperwork and email are all very nice. It was a lot easier to do online than to head over to the consulate. Just be patient.
