Registration in Maryland

Just got back after 14 years sailing. Now in a marina in Maryland.
Boat is US documented vessel.
Will the state request registration?
Also for my inflatable?

Thank you
Wolfgang

Re: Registration in Maryland

How long will you remain in Maryland? I forget the time span there, but yes, if your boat stays longer than XX days, MD will require you to register.

If you take the motor off your dinghy and never use the motor again (at least in view of law enforcement) you will not have to register the dinghy.

Re: Registration in Maryland

Boat registration in Maryland is handled by Department of Natural Resources. You may not need to register your boat since it’s documented, but legally, if you keep your boat in the state, you must either pay tax on the value (believe it’s still 5%) or show that you paid it to another state.

Dinghy with motor must to registered.

Re: Registration in Maryland

Why not go directly to the source? I am often perplexed why folks go to a forum to ask questions that can quickly, easily and reliably be found directly at the source: Boat Registration
