Strange.. Horta I understand as it an entrance port and one has to use the marina.. however. once cleared in... if I then decide to head for Terciera and anchor off Praia Victoria I don't have to show anything.. only if I enter the marina.

I was just saying it is a completely different procedure in Portuguese (and Spanish) marinas compared to France/UK/NL/DE/Scandinavia/Greece/Turkey/US where once cleared in you only need to pay, not show all ship's papers every bloody time.
