US Import Duty Procedures

HI, I am US Citizen with USCG documented French built boat that never been in the US waters. I am prepared to pay the 1.5% duty but would prefer to do it myself and not pay an agent.

Has anyone paid the duty themselves and can advise the forms and procedures?

Re: US Import Duty Procedures

There are several other fees beyond just the duty tax. When we imported our boat, there was a harbor maintenance fee of 0.125%, merchandise processing fee, Customs and EPA fee to name a few. You'll have to get a bond etc. You can DIY, but we didn't want to risk a problem.

We used Linda Jordan as our importer. She's now with Capital Logistics International in Palm Beach Gardens. I don't recall her fee, but I remember it wasn't crazy given all that was required. I'd recommend giving her a call to discuss. You might change your mind.

We used these guys, I thought fees were reasonable and they were hassle free and knew the game inside out Howard Reeder https://howardsreederinc.com/3-thing...sonal-use-u-s/
