US Zarpe?

What is the US form that serves as a zarpe to (east) MX? And where would somebody get this form in Key West? What about getting a pest (insect) inspection ? The big guy in Isla Mujeres said he is going to require them at some point. What could I do to make him happy? I'm not going to go to some big ship port looking for something a ship would need and how much is this going to cost?

Re: US Zarpe?

US. does not issue a Zarpe to a yacht. I have heard of people going to a commissioner of oaths and swearing out a declaration prior to leaving.

Go to the customs at the Key West airport and explain that you are going to Isla Mujeres. They know the drill, and will issue a form that serves as a zarpe.

While not strictly legal, we have had our neighbor sign CBP form 1300 for us when heading to isla.

Will this work anywhere else in Florida besides Key West?

Re: US Zarpe?

Technically, your zarpe is probably the US Constitution. Unlike most other nations, US nationals have the legal right to leave the country and travel freely, unless and only as otherwise restricted by "due process of law".

Of course, a petty Mexican bureaucrat looking for mordida might not grasp that concept.

Re: US Zarpe?

My take on the purpose of a zarpe was it cleared you out of your last port. Just because i'm from the USA does not mean I didn't leave on the run.

Re: US Zarpe?

there is no clearing out of usa paperwork for usa citizens.
as has been stated many times in many threads before, fuel receipt from last stop works from usa into mexico.

Re: US Zarpe?

I got a Coast Guard in Newport to sign Form 1300. He told me I didn't need one, but I said I was leaving the US for Europe and wanted to have one. He came at 0300 in the morning after he had finished inspecting another departing ship.

I knew that the Europeans love their paperwork...
