USCG Interior Numbers

I've just gotten USCG documentation and they require the number be posted in a permanent way somewhere visible inside the vessel. Any suggestions on how to do this and where?

Re: USCG Interior Numbers

Welcome Gino...

One boat has a teak board (appx 3" x 12") with the doc# engraved in it mounted in the laz...

Another has a brass plaque with engraved doc# in aft berth

Common is some placard at the nav station...

Buy one of these and attach it to a main beam in the boat.

Re: USCG Interior Numbers

You can go wild with custom brass plaques or you can get some mailbox numbers from the home center and epoxy them somewhere in the bilge, on a stringer, etc.

There's no requirement that they look pretty, just that they be on the boat and that removal would be obvious (as if you couldn't just cover the area).

Re: USCG Interior Numbers

I've seen numbers attached somewhere in the engine room. A previous owner of my boat attached it to a bulkhead in the sail/anchor locker, visible when the doors to that space are opened.

My understanding is that as long as it's attached in a way that removal would be obvious (or cause some sort of damage).
