Very good news for leaving the boat in Turkey..

As you will recall, there had been a lot of confusion / changes / rumours on the regulations regarding the foreign boat owners in Turkey over the last year or so.

As of today the new regulation is effective ; any boat owner who is entering Turkey is entitled for a residence permit up to 5 years without any restriction. The residence permit covers the family members and the crew as well. All one needs to do is to apply to the port of entry, make a regular entry, get a transit log, apply with the passeports and ship books to the local police, pay some 450-500 TL per passport (app. 200 €) and get the residence permit in a week or 10 days.
The marina contract is not required anymore. You may use an agency or get the help from the marina if you wish, but you may want to do it on yr own as well.

Cheers
