Re: Where to Anchor

Here is alist of places that I have anchored from West Palm Beach to Miami:
1- North Lake Worth - Just west of Green #11
2- Lake Worth- 2 mi south if Peanut Island, sw of Red #6
3- Pelican Harbor- ICW mile 1042.1
4- Lake Boca Raton- entering north of Green #65
('never tried Lettuce Lake or Lake Santa Barbara)
5- Middle River- Only anchored here once about 20 years ago
6- Lake Sylvia- frequently & as long as 5 days at a time
7- Hollywood South Lake- deeper than charted
('never tried Maule Lake, Dumfounding Bay or Venetian Causeway Areas, but I've heard of many who have)
8- Marine Stadium Basin- Follow north side of Rickenbacker Causeway east & enter near the Rusty Pelican Restaurant,- we frequently anchor SE of small island

As posted above, we've been anchoring in these places now and then since 1972 and we have never had any inquiry from any authority. I don't know why some have had problems. I believe them, but I can't explain why they might have hassles. #'s 3, 4, 5 & 7 have always been single night stays for us. Except for visiting some friend's private docks, we have never used any of these places for shore access.

Yeah, I forgot,- I have used that landing, but I would make sure things were chained or cable locked. I've heard of a theft problem there in the past. It is a short walk to a grocery store!

Re: Where to Anchor

There's a small boat ramp over on the western side of the ICW just north of Lake Boca Raton where I have dinghied ashore. Public boat ramps are generally fair game for getting ashore. Not an ideal location, but possible for a short stay ashore. Anchoring is not really a problem in most of Florida--the situation is much better today than 10 years ago.

By the way, they are rebuilding that bridge at the north end of Lake Worth and you may not be able to tie up a dink there right now.
