Re: Long term in the Canary Islands

Hi! I'm newer than new to sailing. I'll be taking my BKB and Coastal Cruising certification in April. I hope to have a boat in the water by June 2015. Sailing is a dream of mine that started 20 years ago. I'm ready to see it through.

Re: Long Term in the Canary Islands

This looks like the official 'non-sequitur' thread.
Just surprised to hear that someone on this forum may be living in the Canaries.
I lived there for years.
Much prefer Madeira, btw.

I like Los Gigantes on the western end of Tenerife.

If you can avert your eyes long enough from the large paunch on the blonde, here's a youtube submission:

Long Term in the Canary Islands

I've spent a lot of time there.

I'd suggest San Sebastion de la gomera Alternatively either rubicon or puerto del Carmen

Los gigantes is a bit if a waste land IMHO

Re: Long Term in the Canary Islands

It all depends on what you want the marina for and where you are coming from.

If sailing in from the North, Marinas at Rubicon, Calero and the new marina in Arrecife are your main courses.

There are heaps of other options depending on your itinerary, preferences and budget.

Hello all. I'm new to this sight but not new to sailing. Right now I'm 5 years in to building a 34 foot schooner.
