Puerto Velero marina.

Hi, has anyone been to Puerto Velero marina Columbia Marina Puerto Velero :: - Marina

Its considerably cheaper than Santa Marta.

I'm looking at options regarding leaving my boat somewhere for 3 mths, mainly interested in how secure it is to leave a boat there.

Thanks in advance.

I know this is an old post. But I'm interested in that same marina. Unless I get rescheduled again...I should be in Santa Marta later this month.
I hope to check it out. If you still have an interest, I'll report back to you. I'm in the US and my skipper is colombian. My plan is to have her negotiate to avoid the "gringo" price.
Cheers

Re: Puerto Velero marina.

I anchored in the bay and checked the marina out from afar a few years ago...it was a pretty basic looking small marina...nothing remotely like the conceptual drawings on the web site. Dont know whether they have initiated a bigger poject or not.

It is a very well protected bay and a handy stop along this route.

Thanks. They claim 200 "moorings" available. I'm thinking that's colombian for slips.
We'll be heading there by land but if anyone is interested we'll share what we learn.

Re: Puerto Velero marina.

Stopped by Puerto Velero marina Friday and spent a couple of hours with the staff. It's a work in progress but the place is functional and pretty safe. Most of the slips are med style but the have some fingers at the end of the docks. 7 meter channel that is maintained by the marina will a small dredger. From land the security is good. People are friendly and helpful. It's a 25 minute drive to Barranquilla an hour to Cartagena. Not much in-between. The water was pretty clear at the dock. The comment about the master plan is accurate but they are making progress. Restaurant is open and they are building a large pool in front of the office/condos.They allow live a boards for now.
It's about a third of the price of Santa Marta.
If anyone interested can contact Luz Daryl "info@mpv.com.co
