Shiners Cove Marina

Does anyone have info on marinas in this area? Feedback on livaboard pros and cons as well as the dislike of "pets" I'm finding common on online marina information. I'm a warm climate native, but sailing looks fantastic in the area. How many months a year do the folks up there hibernate? How long would the commute to Mariden take and would it be possible during the winter months?

I had no idea that there was a liveaboard issue in the area. I looked into state laws and information on other forums and realized it may not be so simple to live the way I take for granted here in Texas. Strange that in a community tied to sailing that the lifestyle is discouraged and from the information I found frowned upon. Maybe I am getting the wrong idea and the facts are different than what I've read but if there are sailors living in the area they sure are a tight lipped crowd. If anyone knows the real story let me know so I don't waste my time or the time of a would be employer.
