A Particular Harbour We Chose Last Night....

If you are a cruiser where are you tonight? Anchored, moored or in a Marina tell us your choice for the evening good or bad, pictures. Nothing too heavy or invasive. In the spirit of sharing and maybe motivating only. I'll start it off with 2 nights ago......

43*29'093N 016*06'908E
VINISCE CROATIA

Weather is calm 30 yachts anchored in bay. The village rims the shoreline with holiday houses/duplexes back to possibly three streets deep. Restaurants amount to 6 or 8 with 3 stores for general produce. Food is cheap, 500mL of good cold beer around 14 Kuna (2 : 50 AUD).

Water temp is 25C grandkids are swimming in their lifejackets (part of our familiarisation for children).

Went ashore and had a good meal, entree of Salted Sardala (sardines) the fishermen fill a bucket of sardines packed with layers of fish, rocksalt, fish etc etc, quite tasty in small amounts.

The highlight here is the stunning olive oil each house have their own trees and they press their own oil it is clean fresh and fruity, they drink it by the small glass it is that tasty.

Wine here is only ok it is called BABIC and hasn't suited our tastes yet.....

Mostly private and foreign boats call in here because it is not marked as a highlighted anchorage on the charter yacht brochures thank heavens!!!!

Breeze is around 20 knots today which means largely smooth seas, there is little swell or wave action in this country.....

What are the water temps like in those seas? The only times I went for a dip in the Med in Spain & France, an aeon ago, my tonsils had company.....

Re: A Particular Harbour We Chose Last Night....

We are in a 8 metre deep bay and water temp on screen reads 25.3c air temp 33c. Way to cool for me but wife, son grandkids and 200 Croatians are swimming in the bay now...

When we arrived here in April the water was 18c air temp was 13c.

Cheers Frank.
