No show times listed locally.

Re: ALL IS LOST: The Movie

Saw it last night in a pre screening at the Philly Film Festival.

Interesting film, damn difficult to convey what it is like being on a boat in a storm. They got a lot right and some details wrong.

All in all a pretty good movie and I would recommend it.

I guess the big thing is that you just can not really convey on a big screen what sailing is like, too much moves, the ocean is too big, too grand. But a good try.

The closest theater playing it I can find is 96miles away. Is it worth the drive or wait for it on dvd?

Re: ALL IS LOST: The Movie

96 miles is a haul.

I think it would be best viewed on a large screen.

We sat close and I found myself looking up, up at times.

I think you would loose some of the experience on a small screen

Re: ALL IS LOST: The Movie

I understand that the boat in this movie was a Cal 39.

Let's get back to a classical CF discussion - is a Cal 39 the best boat for such a voyage?

That boat doesn't have a bridge deck, does it? Is a bridge deck essential for a 39 foot offshore sailboat?
