Another Cruising Video

Our second attempt at putting together a little video of some sailing action off the Caribbean coast of Panama. Done with a $200 GoPro and a free editing software.

If anyone has got some suggestions for other video editing software, please let us know.

And feel free to put up your videos here. We would love to have a collection of music sailing videos to play rather than just straight music during social events.

Yes, I couldnīt find my kite so I have another one ordered and on its way from the US. Then we want to get into the 3D videos so the waves look more realistic.

Re: Another cruising video

For editing I tend to use Avidemux and Cinelerra, but Avidemux is more for converting while cinelerra is more for editing. The real trick is cinerlerra is designed to be used with multiple screens so it can take a bit to get it setup to work on one screen. Also like a bunch of other stuff I use depending on what I'm doing but with those 2 I can do about whatever I need to with all the right codecs installed. Also lots of youtube and documentation for it if you try it and have a problem as it was intended for comercial use.

Re: Another Cruising Video

Sycpuppy, thanks for the suggestions. We can set it up on the boat with a maximum of 2 screens linked to the laptop.

I guess the other concern is how much computing power we need? It seems to take a long time during editting when it needs to adjust or synch the audio with the video. (I think that is what it is doing anyway) The problem is that I would like to synchronise the music better to some of the video actions but it just takes forever.

I happened to look at your great video, and realized that this is the old Songbird, over the years we have sold her twice, a fantastic boat.
PM me if you want 2nd owners contact details, they can give you a lot of extra detail.

Re: Another Cruising Video

Not as exciting as the OP's movie but I shot some video while we were out over Memorial Day Weekend. I edit in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5, but Windows Movie Maker is what I recommend to people looking for free software. It seems to do most everything the $100 software packages do.

Nice. Good choice of music too.

Here is our latest amateur video, taken during a recent passage from the Galapagos to the Marquesas...

Galapagos - Marquesas low res- YouTube

Click on the link and crank up the volume to get all the effects.
In one part, you can feel the vibration of the boat through the speakers.
