Re: Any Classic Car Enthusiasts on Board ?

Hang the cost. The Road and Track subscription follows us everywhere. Did you know that the East Coast has a fabulous concours d'elegance at Amelia Island, northeast of Jacksonville. Almost as famous now as Pebble Beach.

A little interesting bit of useless trivia regarding my black/scallop Honda scooter.
It was the pit bike for Jim Dunn Racing back in 90's when Al Hoffman was running the Trans Am sponsored by RedLine Oil and MoonEyes It was the first car to break the 300mph barrier if I remember correctly. Al Hoffman and Jim Dunn's sig's are on the nose. The scooter was painted to match the Trans Am
Cool history. How did you come by it?

My first wheels were attached to a 1948 Willys CJ 2a.
Now that's a classic!

1979 Ford Stepside ShortNarrow 302 4bbl and headers
1972 Volvo P1800 ES 4speed Fuel Injected

Others
1956 Corvette 265 2 4bbl Powerglide (Unfortunately)
1955 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery 236 6 cy 3spd
1956 Chevrolet Nomad 265 2bbl Powerglide

Sweet! I had one of these back in High School but it was a 2 Wheel Drive Postal Jeep. 4 cyl flat head. Good times in that little yellow Jeep!

Re: Any Classic Car Enthusiasts on Board ?

Here's the car I owned in '69. Aparently after I sold it, it had some mechanical problem and was put in a barn [in 1970] and forgotten !!! This pic was sent to me 3 years ago by its new owner the day after he rescued it, it is now rebuilt and has been to Goodwood and Le Mans historic meets. The new owner was v happy when I was able to provide him with old pics, receipts etc
I later had another which was sold to fund my first sailing trip !

Re: Any Classic Car Enthusiasts on Board ?

I've always wanted a Detomaso Pantera, since a friend in Truckee, CA had one running a turbo and intercooler off of each bank of the Cleveland. Even at the 6500' elevation, that was one fast ride.

Re: Any Classic Car Enthusiasts on Board ?

I had the Deauville for a month or three. Beautiful but not spectacularly fast. Anyway, that was back in 1981 - it was equipped with a Ford or Chrysler V8, I cannot remember clearly which one it was. Good power in the low revs but again, at 200 km/h it became floppy.

And why is that? For me, big fan of Ford V8s and Italian styling but hated Italian high revving engines that had peanuts for torque at low rpm, so it was the combination for my dream car.
