Captain and Two Land Lubbers Cayman or Dominica

Hello

I'm in love with a city girl and have a daughter who don't like it when the boat tilts. Hence I'm contemplating a winter vacation in the Caribbean on shore on an island.

The city girl is a retired party animal. The daughter is some what shy, just turning 21. I am a shy engineer.

Having sailed across the Caribbean, and visited many of the islands north and west of Guadeloupe I'd like the adventure that Dominica seems to present. My wife likes garage sales. The daughter wants the beach.

I've been on Grand Cayman and like the people, but all I'm likely to do there is read and take a ride on the bus from one end to the other. Could some of you enlighten me about the comparisons of the two islands?

Wow, not sure I'm the most informed, but I'll take a shot. Seems to me these two are very opposite type places. Cayman: busy, touristy, lots of places to shop for jewelry and plan on spending a lot to eat. Beaches well traveled. Dominica: more third world, More lush than the dry scrub of Cayman, not sure about beaches... if I remember right.... the sand in Dominica is the darker brown...?
